International Preview: Saracens chasing Grand Slam glory
In the final weekend of the Six Nations Saracens will once again have a keen interest with ten players involved in the senior and U20 competitions this weekend.
England and England U20s are both chasing a Grand Slam and Saracens have five players represented in both teams. For the seniors, Billy Vunipola is back in the starting XV for England after his try-scoring cameo from the bench in the Red Roses’ mauling of Scotland at Twickenham Stadium. Vunipola is joined by Maro Itoje and Owen Farrell in the starting XV with Jamie George and Mako Vunipola named amongst the replacements as Eddie Jones makes two changes to the squad who beat Scotland with Billy Vunipola joined by Anthony Watson in the starting XV to face Ireland.
With former England and Saracens coach Andy Farrell now amongst the Ireland coaching staff, there is another Saracens connection in the Irish side as Connacht scrum-half Kieran Marmion comes into the team to replace the injured Conor Murray. Marmion was born in Barking, Essex to Irish parents, his late father being the former Saracens centre Mick Marmion who played for Saracens in the early 1980s at Bramley Road.
For England U20s, under the stewardship of Saracens’ academy coach Ian Vass, five academy players will be involved to face Ireland U20. Fly-half Max Malins is joined by Dom Morris (centre) and forwards Nick Isiekwe and Jack Nay (both named at lock) in the starting XV whilst Ralph Adams-Hale is named on the bench.
