Sickle Cell Disorder (SCD) is the most common genetic blood condition in England, affecting up to 15,000 people in the UK and primarily those with African or Caribbean heritages. These heritage communities are also ten times more likely to have the Ro subtype of blood, with the NHS needing 12,000 more of these donors a year to meet growing demand.

Showing the world the true kindness & altruism that runs through our team’s DNA, we will educate people about sickle cell & campaign for more blood donations from black heritage donors.

To drive this, Saracens will rebrand Row R at StoneX Stadium as Row Ro, to symbolise the rarest blood type for sickle cell disorder. The seats will be redesigned red, containing information on the campaign & how to sign up to be a donor.

Key players from African & Caribbean backgrounds will lead an emotive film addressing the impact of sickle cell, their experiences with the disorder, the need for black donors & how to become one. This also includes a spokesperson for Sickle Cell Society, who will contribute their expertise & ensure representation for those affected by sickle cell.
