Kelly Brown to leave Saracens
Saracens can today confirm that Kelly Brown will leave the club at the end of the season.
Brown, who made 163 appearances as a player between 2010 and 2017 before continuing as a coach, is embarking on a new challenge, moving to leading UK Social Enterprise Places for People to be part of their Affordable Housing leadership team.
His contributions on the field include helping the club to their first ever Premiership title in 2011, as well as two further Premiership trophies and two Heineken Champions Cups.
The transition in to coaching was a smooth one and he was part of the team that oversaw Saracens Storm’s 2018/19 Premiership Rugby Shield triumph as well as the young group’s run to the Premiership Rugby Cup final in the same season.
With a whole host of players making their debuts over the last season, he has certainly had a positive impact on a number of the young players coming through the academy.
The former Scotland captain, who earned 64 caps for his country thanked everyone at the club for his time at StoneX Stadium.
“Saracens is a special club and I am so thankful to have been a small part of it for so long. I look back on my time spent here with incredible fondness and the memories and friends made along the way. It was also great to see so many Saracens Academy players make their Premiership debuts this season, and I know the future is bright.
I feel the time is right for me and my family to move on to a different challenge, and am excited for the future.
Although I won’t be a the club physically every day, you never actually leave Saracens. The club is in my heart, and I can’t wait to visit many times in the years going forward…this time as a fan.”
Director of Rugby Mark McCall said Brown’s contribution to the club is immeasurable.
“Kelly has been an incredible person to have around the club for the last decade. His achievements while playing speak for themselves, and as a coach he has been a key part of our group to bring through some future talent.
We wish him and his family all the best in the future and look forward to welcoming them back to StoneX Stadium any time.”
