Weekend Round Up | Memorable StoneX double header ends in stunning style
The Men and Women both had huge results in their pursuit of silverware on a fantastic double header weekend at StoneX.Â
Saracens MenÂ
Mark McCall’s side booked themselves a home semi-final in the Gallagher Premiership after a thrilling 42-38 victory over Northampton Saints at a raucous StoneX Stadium.
The Men in Black were roared on by an incredible home crowd, and the fans got their reward as five second half tries ensured that the last four clash will be held in North London.Â
The match will be remembered for Theo McFarland’s astonishing finish where he showed all of his basketball skills from his previous career, and captain Owen Farrell got another Player of the Match Award as chosen by the BT pundits.
The semi-final will be on Saturday 11th June with kick off at 13:30, and the opponents will be confirmed after the final round of Premiership matches.Â
Saracens WomenÂ
It was another sensational occasion at StoneX on Sunday, as Saracens Women progressed to their fourth Allianz Premier 15s final.Â
They took on local rivals Harlequins and again they had enormous home support on a memorable day, and a comprehensive 30-10 win saw them advance to the final at Sixways on Friday 3rd June.Â
Poppy Cleall scored twice, whilst Marlie Packer and May Campbell also crossed as well as 10 points from star Alev Kelter.
They will now turn their attention to the final against Exeter Chiefs, where they will look to make it three titles in four seasons.Â
Saracens MavericksÂ
The Mavericks came out agonisingly on the wrong end of the result when they took on Leeds Rhinos.Â
A narrow 62-58 defeat means they will miss out on the end of season play-offs, despite a spirited display at the University of Hull.Â
Aliyah Zaranyika was the Player of the Match and she will be looking to help the Mars end the season on a high when they host Team Bath on Saturday afternoon.Â
