Weekend Round Up | Sarries shine on European and international stage
Saracens Men progressed to the last 16 in Europe, the Mavericks made it back-to-back wins and the Women were on fire in the Six Nations during another terrific weekend for the club.
Saracens MenÂ
Mark McCall’s men were at their rampaging best on Friday night as they booked their place in the last 16 of the European Rugby Challenge Cup with an impressive 55-5 win over Brive at the Stade Amedee-Domenech.Â
They scored eight tries in total in what was a must-win game, and a Player of the Match display from Captain Owen Farrell guided his side through to the knockouts.Â
Sarries will host Cardiff Rugby on Sunday afternoon as they look to progress to the Quarter Final stage.Â
Saracens WomenÂ
It was another rest weekend for Saracens Women, but they will be back in action on Good Friday when they take on Gloucester-Hartpury at the Alpas Arena in the 5th/6th placed play-off of the Allianz Cup.Â
Saracens Mavericks
The Mavericks saw off a competitive Celtic Dragons team to win their second game on the bounce. Those coveted three points leapfrog them over Team Bath and bring them level with London Pulse in the top four of the league.Â
They dominated proceedings to eventually run out 55-46 winners, which included a Player of the Match performance from Beth Ecuyer-Dale.Â
In next weekend’s Spring Showdown Mavericks will be looking to maintain a clean sheet against Severn Stars and London Pulse as they play on Saturday 16 and Easter Sunday.
InternationalsÂ
The TikTok Six Nations continued and Saracens Women were once again at the forefront of the action. Poppy Cleall, Zoe Harrison, Marlie Packer, Vicky Fleetwood and Sarah McKenna came up against Donna Rose and Wales at Kingsholm in front of a record crowd. It was England that came out on top to make it three wins from three so far in the tournament.Â
Jodie Rettie was on the bench for Scotland but they unfortunately were beaten by France on Sunday afternoon.
