WEEKEND ROUND UP | Showdown Success for Saracens
A win at Tottenham, barnstorming performances in Edinburgh and a COVID cancellation were the main headlines from the weekend in the world of Saracens.Â
Saracens Men:Â
The big build up to The Showdown 2 in Association with City Index didn’t disappoint as Saracens Men secured a crucial win on their first trip to the immaculate Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.Â
Boosted by the return of their England internationals, Sarries scored three tries courtesy of one from Elliot Daly and two from Max Malins. Owen Farrell scored 12 points on his return from injury to tighten their grip on second place in the Gallagher Premiership.
With over 40,000 in the crowd having a great day out, we already can’t wait for The Showdown 3!
It’s a busy week for the Men, with a Premiership Rugby Cup match against Wasps on Tuesday night as well as a trip to Sale Sharks on Friday night at the AJ Bell Stadium.Â
Saracens Women:Â
There was no club action this weekend with another break, but our players on international duty shone in the opening round of the TikTok Six Nations.Â
England were resounding 57-5 winners over Scotland in Edinburgh, and Marlie Packer scored a hat-trick in a Player of the Match performance. Poppy Cleall and Holly Aitchison also crossed the line in their bonus point win.Â
Donna Rose scored twice for Wales as they beat Ireland 27-19 in Dublin to get their campaign off to a winning start.Â
Kelsey Clifford was involved with the England Under 20’s who were beaten by France despite an impressive performance.Â
Alex Austerberry’s side are back in action this Saturday, as they welcome Exeter Chiefs to StoneX Stadium on Saturday afternoon in the Allianz Cup.Â
Saracens Mavericks:Â
Unfortunately the Mavericks match on Friday was postponed due to a COVID outbreak in the Bath team, but they will look to bounce back on Monday 4th April against Wasps at the University of Essex.Â
