Three Named in Wales World Cup Squad
Saracens Women's trio Kat Evans, Georgia Evans and Donna Rose have today, all been named in the Welsh squad for the Rugby World Cup.
All three were part of last season's Premier15s winning squad and will be looking to impress in New Zealand.
Wales will face hosts New Zealand, along with Australia and Scotland in the group stages, meaning that there is the distinct possibility of Saracens' Welsh and Scottish trio's facing off against one another.
The squad will be captained by Siwan Lillicrap, with Hannah Jones named as vice-captain.
Speaking at the squad announcement, Head Coach Ioan Cunningham feels that his squad are building nicely ahead of the tournament.
"We are delighted with the group we’ve settled on; we are really looking forward to seeing what we can do when we touch down in New Zealand next week. There were a few robust discussions, and you are always looking at combinations, scenarios we could face over a long period in New Zealand and importantly, ways you can get the best players on the pitch but overall, we are pleased with where we are."
Hooker/ flanker Kat Evans has been a mainstay at Saracens over the years. She made her debut for her country against Japan in the 2021 Autumn internationals and has since gone on to win 3 caps.
Front row Donna Rose has 12 international caps to her name and has impressed since joining the club in 2019, with her scrummaging ability making her a crucial asset for Alex Austerberry's side.
Completing the trio is Georgia Evans. The dynamic forward came back from a serious arm and wrist injury last season, having been a key cog in the Saracens pack. She will be looking to add to her 12 caps in red in New Zealand.
