Molly 1500x1500

England U20 international Molly Morrissey has signed for Saracens Women for the 2019/2020 season.

The second row joins from Gloucester-Hartpury Women after two seasons in the west country. Before that, Morrissey spent two seasons at Lichfield Ladies having started playing rugby at age 11 at her local club Caldy.

Morrissey made her England U20 debut in 2016 and was part of the Gloucester-Hartpury side that reached the Tyrrells Premier 15s play-offs in 2017/18 though she missed the semi-finals due to injury.

Saracens Women Head Coach Alex Austerberry said:

“As a club we are ecstatic to have a young player as talented as Molly join the club. As well as being a quality player she has bags of potential.

“Our success last year was underpinned by our strength in depth, in particular in the pack, and Molly will very much add to that this season while also challenging for the starting XV.

“As a coaching group we are excited to see her develop further and flourish over this season and seasons to come.”

Morrissey said:

“I’m really excited to be joining Saracens for the upcoming season. The challenge of coming into a new environment, meeting new people and working with new coaches is one I’m looking forward to.

“It’s great to be joining a club like Saracens that has not only had so much success recently and throughout its history but is also committed to supporting players on and off the pitch.

“I can’t wait for the new season to start and to run out alongside my new teammates in Sarries colours for the first time.”

MATCH REACTION | Alex Austerberry (PWR Rd 10)

Director of Rugby Alex Austerberry felt that his side let an opportunity get away from them, as they slipped to defeat on the road against Gloucester-Hartpury.
