Gallagher Premiership Rugby Launch, Twickenham, Uk 11 Sept 2019

An innovative new app harnessing latest technology and featuring Saracens players to help primary school children discover their inner champion

Premiership Rugby is aiming to inspire the current generation of primary school pupils with the launch of its new Premiership Rugby Champions education app.

Premiership Rugby Champions is an interactive cross curriculum-based digital app, developed with expert learning technology company, Aspire 2Be. With additional support from both the CVC Foundation and BT Supporters Club, the app represents a significant advance in the Schools programme within Premiership Rugby’s ‘Plan To Improve A Million Lives’ with a target of engaging 10,000 teachers by the end of the 2019/20 season.

Aimed at primary school teachers, the app features video content from Saracens players to bring rugby into the classroom and use the sport to inspire primary school children across multiple subjects whilst developing their digital literacy and important life skills.

Premiership Rugby Champions will provide FREE interactive themed project-based lesson plans for use in the classroom and outside. With digital literacy at the heart of all content, the first resources will tackle health, with modules on tackling numeracy and character to follow as the term progresses.

Kieran Crombie, Head of Foundation, said: “We know first-hand the power of rugby to inspire young people and the Premiership Rugby Champions app represents a great way to use this in the classroom. We have a great network of local primary schools in our community and we’re looking forward to communicating this to them.

"We know our players can act as powerful role models to young people and it’s great that teachers are now able to leverage this and include rugby in their classroom lesson plans!”

Be one of the first 1,000 teachers to download the app and you will be entered into a prize draw to win tag rugby equipment for your school.

Grow a classroom full of champions with the Premiership Rugby Champions App. Available for download now on iOS and Android.
