Saracens and Mill Hill Preservation Society to plant Willow Tree to mark Coronation of King Charles III
Ahead of the Coronation of King Charles III, Mill Hill Preservation Society, who have worked with Saracens since moving to Copthall, are donating a tree to StoneX to plant in front of the 1876 Stand to commemorate the Coronation.
A Â semi-mature willow tree will be planted on the West Lawn on the 1st June 2023. This has been chosen to match the tree on the opposite side of the West Lawn.
Mill Hill Preservation society have jointly funded the purchase and planting of the tree with Saracens, similar to the dawn redwood that was planted on the West Lawn in 2002 by the Mill Hill Preservation society to commemorate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's 50th Golden Jubilee.
The Mill Hill Preservations Society have worked with Saracens since moving to Copthall with the aim of enhancing biodiversity of the site. With King Charles III's particular love of nature, the planting of this tree will be the club's way of paying tribute to the Coronation.
A plaque will be placed at the base of the tree which will say the following:
This Willow tree was planted in 2023 by the Mill Hill Preservation Society and Saracens Rugby Club to commemorate the Coronation of King Charles III
