Saracens can today confirm that Tim Swinson will retire from rugby following the conclusion of the 2021/22 season.

The former Scotland international, who was tempted out of retirement two years ago to play for his boyhood club has had an incredible impact at StoneX Stadium.

The Players’ Player of the Season in the Championship winning campaign has made 41 appearances in North London since joining, forming a formidable partnership with the likes of Maro Itoje and Nick Isiekwe in the second-row.

Swinson, who got 38 caps for Scotland and won the Pro12 with Glasgow has had a glittering career spanning 16 years at the highest level.

The 35-year-old will head North of the Border once again at the end of the season to embark on a new career.

“Thank you to everyone involved at Saracens who welcomed, supported, and challenged me to be a better rugby player.

The memories that have been made over these two years will last a lifetime.” Said Swinson.

Director of Rugby Mark McCall praised Swinson for his impact with the Men in Black.

"We would like to thank Tim for the extraordinary impact he has had on our club. He is a hugely popular member of the group who will be missed by all.

His career is one that he can look back on with immense pride and from everyone at Saracens we are very thankful for the last two years.

I am sure he will be very successful in his next chapter and we wish him and his family all the very best.”
