Corrigan and ellis set for semi-final test
It doesn't get much bigger than a semi-final against the world number one ranked side.
For Alysha Corrigan and Alex Ellis, they will be looking to back up last weekend's impressive performance against the USA on the biggest stage of all, as Canada look to return to the final for the first time since 2014.
Corrigan retains her place at outside centre, whilst Ellis is again poised to make an impact off the bench.
There are also two former Saracens who will turn out in red this weekend, with Olivia De Merchant, captain Sophie de Goede both starting for Kevin Rouet's side.
De Merchant recently made her fiftieth appearance for her country, whilst de Goede has been one of the players of the tournament so far.
For current Saracens pair Corrigan and Ellis, they, like the rest of the squad have been quietly going about their business in impressive fashion. Corrigan was player of the match in the final group outing against the USA, whilst Ellis has impressed with her set-piece ability in her appearances so far.
Speaking ahead of kick-off Rouet admitted that Saturday will be a step up in quality for his side, but the Head Coach was excited for the challenge that lies in wait.
"It’s of course a big step up in competition this week but we’re excited for that challenge. We’ve focused this week on the areas we can improve, and I think we’ve been getting better each week, so our mindset doesn’t change. The players have sacrificed a lot to be here, there’s a job to do on Saturday and we’ll arrive at Eden Park ready to go.”
