Packer puts pen to paper on new deal
Saracens are delighted to confirm that co-captain Marlie Packer has re-signed with the club until 2025.
Packer continues to be a global star at the top of her game and captained England to a Grand Slam triumph in front of a record crowd for a women's rugby match at Twickenham last month.
Speaking exclusively on The Huddle about the announcement, the back row admitted that it was an easy decision to stay with the club.
"It was really easy to put pen to paper. Since I've been here, we've won back-to-back championships and we're always striving to be the best. The girls here really push me to be the best player I can be on the pitch and the best person off of it. I really enjoy it here and I'm not going anywhere!"
Packer has been in superb form again for club and country this season. With nine tries in just eight appearances for Saracens and seven tries in the recent Six Nations, the back row looks to be playing some of the best rugby of her career.
Alongside co-captain Lotte Clapp, Packer will be looking to lead her side to another Allianz Premier15s triumph this season and Director of Rugby Alex Austerberry praised the impact that Packer has had during her time at StoneX, as well as looking forward to her role in the next few years for the club.
"Marlie is an outstanding player who is playing some of the best rugby of her career. She is an outstanding influence on the group both on and off the field and I am delighted that she has committed her long term future to Saracens. She has played a huge role in some of the wonderful achievements and memories of the club over an extended period of time. I am excited and delighted that Marlie will continue to wear the Saracens shirt with pride and I have no doubt will contribute significantly to our next chapters."
