Saracens Foundation Update | Gloucester Rugby
Today is the Foundation’s Take Over game where the Saracens Foundation take over a home game and turn it into a day of fundraising and raising awareness of the charity.
There are loads of ways to support the Foundation today including buying a sweepstake from a Foundation volunteer, buy a pint of from our Greene King stand in the Olympic Bar for a guilt free beverage, or take your chances with lucky dip on the Oasis!
The Foundation runs 25 projects in the community and relies on the generosity of its supporters to continue it’s life changing work.
Sporting Roots
Sporting Roots is the Foundation’s Refugee and Asylum Seeker project, working with people temporarily housed in hotels to integrate them into the community and get them active.
We first met Munasar in October 2025, when he had only been here in the UK for around amonth. He started attending our weekly Football sessions immediately and is still attendingnow! He fit into the team at our sessions really well and even saved up to buy his own boots.
As his skills on the pitch have improved, so has his English speaking as he settled into life here in the UK.Munasar has always expressed an interest in joining a local Football Club and saved up as much of his weekly allowance of £9.95 to pay for club membership fees. This just demonstrates how much of a dedicated and passionate individual he is. More recently, he has also started volunteering with the British Heart Foundation, helping in their warehouses and shops. It has been a pleasure to watch Munasar develop over the past 6 months, and hehas become a great role model to others involved with the Sporting Roots Project.volunteering with British Heart Foundation, helping in their warehouses and shops.
