ABOUT MARO

Maro Itoje has established himself as one of the leading players in world rugby, enjoying outstanding success at both club and international level while becoming one of the game's most respected leaders.

A product of the Saracens Academy, the second row, who is also capable of playing on the flank, made his first-team debut in January 2013 in the LV= Cup. Since then, he has become a cornerstone of the Men in Black, winning five Premiership titles and three European Champions Cups.

Itoje's international career has been equally impressive. After captaining England U20 to the World Rugby U20 Championship title in 2014, he made his senior England debut during the 2016 Six Nations, helping the side secure a Grand Slam. He has since earned 102 England caps, becoming a key figure in the national side.

In January 2025, Itoje was named England captain, before being appointed captain of the British & Irish Lions for their tour of Australia later that year. He led the Lions to a historic series victory over the Wallabies, starting all three Tests on his third Lions tour, having previously represented the side in 2017 and 2021.

Individual honours have followed his success on the pitch, including being named European Player of the Year in 2016. From his early days in the Saracens Academy to captaining both England and the Lions, Itoje continues to play a leading role in the game.
