Premiership Rugby have revealed the shortlist for the 2022/23 Gallagher Player of the Season.

The shortlist is as follows:
Rod du Preez – Sale Sharks
Owen Farrell – Saracens
Ollie Lawrence – Bath Rugby
Jasper Wiese – Leicester Tigers

BBC Rugby Union Correspondent Chris Jones was among the seven-person judging panel, and said:

"To select four players for the Gallagher Player of the Season was tough – there have been plenty of top performers in many different ways.
"Jasper has been phenomenal for Leicester, the league’s top carrier for six rounds in a row is a remarkable statistic and the power and go-forward he brings has been influential in Tigers’ ongoing winning streak.
"Owen has combined England captaincy with steering Saracens to finish top of the pile once again. Sarries haven’t lost at the StoneX Stadium all season in the Premiership and Farrell’s influence and leadership has been evident throughout. He has stepped up in so many key moments and has helped drive his club into a semi-final once again.
"Rob really impressed the panel this season, excelling at both fly-half and in the midfield as the Sharks secured their first home semi-final since 2005/06. He has been a regular presence in a strong Sale side and is incredibly deserving of a spot on the shortlist.
"Ollie’s story this season is a remarkable one. After the unfortunate developments at Worcester, Ollie kicked on to another level when he joined Bath and carried that form into the international arena for England. He has shown consistency, dynamism and resilience throughout the campaign.
"It is a very strong shortlist, with some quality players unfortunate to miss out, and we look forward to seeing the winner crowned at the Premiership Rugby Awards in London on May 10."
