Saracens are thrilled to confirm the return of World Player of the Year nominee Sophie de Goede to StoneX Stadium.

Canadian captain de Goede returns to North London after two years away. During that time, she captained her country to a World Cup semi-final and established herself as one of the best players in the game.

De Goede's arrival is a major coup for Alex Austerberry's side, as he secures the services of one of the best players in the game.

A leader on and off the pitch, de Goede has been a talismanic figure for Canada in the last few seasons, as she continues to take her game to new heights.

Having starred in the recent Pacific4 matches against New Zealand and Australia, the back row is eager to return to the Saracens fold.

"I’m so excited to get back on the pitch in Saracens colours this season. The club was very welcoming to me at a difficult time during the pandemic, so I’m really looking forward to being back and connecting more with the supporters this time around. We definitely have lofty goals at this club and I can’t wait to get after it."

Director of Rugby Alex Austerberry was understandably delighted to have secured the services of de Goede for the coming season.

"Sophie is undoubtedly one of the premier players in world rugby. She's hugely influential with a great work rate. Her impact on games is significant and the level of performance is consistently high. Although still young, Sophie is vastly experienced with great leadership qualities, which are reflected in captaining her country. We also saw these first-hand during her last spell at the club. Sophie has the ability, drive and potential to reach some incredible heights and I am delighted that she will be doing that in a Saracens shirt for years to come."
